Dr. Tarazona is a highly skilled orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine with extensive training. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Florida State University College of Medicine. He honed his surgical skills and continued his medical training by completing an orthopaedic surgical residency at NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island where he was awarded the Chief Resident title during his final year. Dr. Tarazona also completed advanced fellowship training in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the world-renowned Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles, California, known for its excellence in treating professional athletes and complex sports injuries under the direction of Drs. Neal ElAttrache and Michael Banffy. He has worked with numerous professional teams including the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Galaxy, and Anaheim Ducks.
Dr. Tarazona’s approach is to collaborate with each patient and tailor treatment plans according to each individual’s needs. He takes great pride in treating each patient with compassion and empathy in order to better understand their goals.
He treats various disorders of the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. Dr. Tarazona utilizes nonsurgical modalities focusing on physical therapy, blood-flow restriction therapy, ultrasound-guided injections including platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and nutritional supplementation. He is well-versed in minimally-invasive, arthroscopic techniques of the shoulder, elbow, knee and hip preservation. Dr. Tarazona also uses state-of-the-art technology including three-dimensional preoperative planning and patient-specific implants for shoulder replacements, and performs robotic-assisted hip and knee replacements.
Dr. Tarazona has also contributed to the field through orthopedic research by completing a research fellowship at the Rothman Orthopedic Institute at Thomas Jefferson University, where he engaged in cutting-edge research and collaborated with some of the leading experts in orthopedic surgery to conduct clinical trials.
Dr. Tarazona is an active member of several professional societies, including the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), and the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), demonstrating his commitment to remaining at the forefront of orthopedic innovation and patient care.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Tarazona enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, traveling to new destinations, playing golf, and maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle through regular exercise.
